The new Ambassador of Spain presents his credentials to the Queen Elizabeth II

06/11/2008. London, 28 October (EFE). The new Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom, Carles Casajuana i Palet, presented his credentials to Queen Elizabeth II today in a ceremony in Buckingham Palace, the Official residence of the British Royal Family.

11/06/2008. Journalist Graham Keely received on 3 June the first “Eleanor of Castile” journalism award, instituted by the Spanish Embassy in London. 

“ELEANOR OF CASTILE” JOURNALISM AWARD

09/05/2008. The British journalist Graham Keeley has won the first “Eleanor of Castile” Journalism Award for his article Spanish Eyes, published in THE INDEPENDENT newspaper. The Spanish Embassy in London has launched this award to the best work published in the United Kingdom “that can contribute to the communication and mutual understanding between the British and Spanish peoples”.

The Election to the Spanish Parliament has been called for next Sunday 9th of March 2008.The legal system applicable to the election process is established by the Constitution and by the General Public Act of Parliament on the Electoral System dated 1985.The Royal Decree 33/2008 establishes the date of the election; the number of Deputies per province; the duration of the electoral campaign; the date in which the elected Chambers will be constituted and the norms applicable to the electoral process.Since the Constitution was approved of eight General Elections have been held: in 1979, 1982, 1986, 1989, 1993, 1996, 2000 and 2004, respectively.

Statement by The Embassy of Spain in London condemning the unacceptable behaviour of a section of the public during Formula 1 pre-season testing at the Circuit de Catalunya

The Embassy of Spain would like to express their condemnation about the unacceptable behaviour of a section of the public during Formula 1 pre-season testing at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona last week-end.Neither the Spanish Government nor the Spanish people support or approve this type of actions which are to be rejected under any circumstances.The Spanish Automobile Federation (RFEA) has also condemned this racist abuse and express sympathy and support to the McLaren team and specially Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton.
